About Bob Shockey (President)
Bob has lived in Southern California for over 25 years. He graduated from Otis Art Institute in 1986, and worked in the publishing and visual effects fields for the next 15 years, where he learned many useful design and technical skills. He started writing FileMaker® databases in 1991. Bob quickly fell in love with the power and elegance of FileMaker database programming, and used his development skills to increasingly greater effect over the years. In 1999, Bob started Shockey Solutions (later renamed to The Alchemy Group) to give his passion full attention, and he has never looked back.
Bob Shockey has spoken many times before FMDiSC on a wide range of topics, including customer support, interface design, and scheduling in FileMaker; he currently serves as a member of the FMDiSC Advisory Board. He has also written for FileMaker Advisor Magazine, and was awarded the top prize in FileMaker Inc.'s 2004 DevCon Solution Contest. He is a FileMaker 7, 8 and 9 Certified Developer.
Bob is married and has a beautiful daughter named Ashling, who has him wrapped around her little finger. He is an avid medieval history buff and practices several martial arts.
About Deborah Norton (Senior Developer)
Deborah discovered FileMaker in 2001 while searching for software to utilize in her work as a project coordinator. In no time at all, she began creating database solutions to meet numerous needs within her company. In 2004 she became a full time FileMaker developer, creating solutions for a wide range of business models. Deborah's love of database design stems from a combination of her creative spirit and logical mind. She began working for The Alchemy Group in the summer of 2006. Deborah has two beautiful children and resides in Fullerton. She also has a passion for music, playing mandolin, guitar and singing in two local bands.
About Islay Walker (Project Coordinator)
Islay joined The Alchemy Group after eight years in the escrow industry. Islay is excited to utilize her excellent background working with people in customer service to facilitate projects. She is enthusiastic about acting as a liaison for our clients, and takes her position as Project Coordinator very seriously.
Islay resides in Fullerton with her menagerie of pets and enjoys escaping to the mountains to camp whenever possible.
About Dina Torok (Associate)
Dina Torok is a computer consultant specializing in providing FileMaker Pro database services. Dina has been developing solutions with FileMaker Pro since 1994, and has been president of Torok-Design Solutions since 1998. Her clients range from sole-proprietors to enterprises with over 100 employees. Dina's personal attention to clients' business needs, her comfortable demeanor, and her development skills have kept her clients raving about her contribution to the success of their businesses. Dina currently sits on the Advisory Board and has been a speaker for FileMaker Developers in Southern California (FMDiSC), and is an Associate Member of the FileMaker Solutions Alliance (FSA).
